CBR’s Baylor All-Time Team
C Brian Skinner (6′ 9″ 265 lbs.)
School’s all-time leader in rebounding (915), blocks (346), minutes played (3,399) and double-doubles (34). To along with that, Skinner is third all-time in scoring and averaged 16.5 points per game in his career.
F/C William Chatmon (N/A)
Averaged 23.3 points per game in ‘70-71 season. Chatmon also was great rebounder in that ‘70-71 season, he averaged 14.2 rebounds a game. Like Vinnie Johnson, Chatmon played in only two seasons and averaged over 20 points a game in each of them.
F Terry Teagle (6′ 5″ 195 lbs.)
School’s all-time leading scorer. He averaged over 20 points per game in each of his last three seasons. Teagle was also a good rebounder and is fourth on the school’s all-time list.
G Vinnie “The Microwave” Johnson (6′ 2″ 200 lbs.)
Best pure scorer in school history. Averaged 23.0 and 25.2 points per game in his two seasons. Holds school record for points in a game with 50.
G Michael Williams (6′ 2″ 175 lbs.)
Great defender, holds school’s all-time steals record with 282. The next best is Terry Black with 153. Williams was also a great scorer, good enough to be second all-time in Baylor history.
Reserves:
C Darryl Middleton (6′ 8″ N/A lbs.)
Middleton was a great all-around player. He is fourth on the school’s all-time leading scorer list. He is fifth in all-time rebounding and still holds the record for points in a single season.
G Aaron Bruce (6′ 3″ 185 lbs.)
Current player who tested the NBA draft waters after his junior season, but did not hire an agent. His scoring average has gone down since his freshman year, but plays a valuable roll on deep team. It could be argued that fellow guard Curtis Jerrells should be on this team.
F/C Don Heathington (N/A)
Heathington was the best player on the school’s two Final Four teams. He also was the school’s first 1,000-point scorer.
F Terry Black (6′ 5″ 210 lbs.)
Black was known for his dunking ability and was considered by some to be the most exciting player to ever play for Baylor. Second in all-time steals and in field goal percentage.
G David Wesley (6′ 0″ 190 lbs.)
Averaged 20.9 points per game in ‘91-92 season. Ninth all-time leading scorer despite playing in only 72 games.
Others that were considered: G Jack Robinson, F Earl “Pete” Creasey, F/C Carroll Dawson, F Larry Gatewood, C Hubert Kirkpatrick, G/F Jerry Mallet, F Darrell Hardy, G Nelson Haggerty, G DeMarcus Minor.
