March Madness

The first day of March provided many exciting moments.
Mike Krzyzewski became the sixth college basketball coach to win 800 games with a 87-86 win over N.C. State.
Texas Tech upset No. 5 Texas 83-80.
No. 7 Kansas revenged and an earlier loss to Kansas St. with a 88-74 win over the Wildcats. KSU freshman Michael Beasley finished with 39 points and 11 rebounds.
No. 8 Stanford came back to defeat No. 22 Washington St.
No. 23 Saint Mary’s was knocked out of first place by conference foe Gonzaga.
And the best game could have been Georgetown at Marquette.
There were some huge plays late in a few unranked games.
Syracuse blew it against Pittsburgh and Valparaiso made a buzzer beater in overtime.
Ohio St. might have played itself out of the NCAA Tournament with a 71-57 loss to Minnesota, while Cornell became the first to clinch a berth with a 86-53 win over Harvard to win the Ivy League.
Selection is Sunday is officially less than two weeks away.
