NCAA violations against Sampson
Breaking news:
Indiana coach Kelvin Sampson and his staff have committed five major violations of NCAA rules, which were made public today.
Sampson is being accused of violating telephone restrictions that were imposed on him from his previous job at Oklahoma.
The penalty could be more severe since he lied about the violations to the school and NCAA investigators, according to the NCAA. It is not known what penalty the NCAA will hand down, but it won’t be a postseason ban this season.
Indiana has until May 8th to provide a written response. The committee will have a hearing in April, but the date could be pushed back until June.
The Hooisers could self-impose a postseason ban on itself this season, but that doesn’t seem likely because the team is 20-3 and is right in the thick of things in regards to the Big 10 title.
