San Diego bursts bubble
By Adam Kiefaber
Before the West Coast Conference started its conference tournament, everyone knew the two teams that would be playing in the NCAA Tournament.
Gonzaga and St. Mary’s were locks to make it.
Add San Diego to that list of WCC teams in the NCAA Tournament, as the Toreros defeated Gonzaga 69-62 in conference championship game on Monday night.
The win takes away a bid for a potential at-large team that is on the bubble.
Here are the highlights:
South Alabama, a team that could make the tournament on its regular season alone, lost its semifinal game to Middle Tennessee. MTSU will play Western Kentucky in the Sun Belt Championship on Tuesday night.
If South Alabama makes the tourney then another bubble team will get popped. Another bubble could be popped if MTSU beats WKU because WKU could get an at-large bid as well.
